I "heart" Hong Kong
It's true, I can't deny it. Ever since my first trip to Hong Kong I've loved the city. After my last trip this feeling grew even stronger, and now I just want to flippin move there... I "heart" it... and that's a lot coming from a guy who doesn't even have a heart anymore.
Naturally, like Hollywood does to most good movies, after the success of the last junk boat event in Hong Kong a remake was inevitable. Choosing Hong Kong over Tioman Island for that weekend was easier than choosing steak over tofu, or a beer over a girl. Carol, Kathleen, Greg, Pilli, Vishen, Kristina, together with other SHA friends, inspired by the possibilities, were quickly overwhelmed by the irresistible firepower of this concept. What nobody guessed though was that the wildfire would spread, and instead of 1 junk boat, we would end up with 9 junk boats and 300+ people... a flippin fleet on a mission, going to war.
Friday night was intended to begin with the opening game of the world cup; MU airlines had other ideas and thanks to a long delay we missed the game. Regardless, upon arrival at LKF the peeps were still waiting for us to begin the festivities. The group also included well known celebrities such as Sara (who was a trooper and stayed out late despite her early morning flight to NYC the next day), Veronica, Rusty, and Yatwan (who was leaving that weekend for Austria). No sleep the entire weekend...

Saturday morning head back to Kenneth's in broad sunlight, literally change my clothes, pick up some supplies for the road, and head to the docks. Lo there they stand, fifteen-score strong, excited and eager. In the harbor the proud pennants fluttered as our nine ships made ready to set sail. Quickly making our way to the crew of the flagship, Aloha, we found our brethren. Our uniforms distinguished us from the others, wearing the tacky Hawaii shirts, wifebeaters and aviators as previously coordinated. Wifebeaters rock! The sight was curiously moving. Words cannot do justice but I will divulge that it was pretty much one of my favorite weekends ever. A dazzling success despite Poseidon's feeble efforts.

All you who weren't able to make it (and you know who you are) next time please heed my words and listen to experience. :) Special shout outs go to lords Paris and Paulie, Benjamin for their vision and leadership, and of course our most hospitable host Kenneth who hosted us rowdies despite having to move that weekend. The standard has been set, the gauntlet has been thrown, and accepted with enthusiasm. Shanghai will respond to the challenge with vigor.
Upon popular request, the photos are available for the edification of the masses. Till next time, fair Hong Kong.
